Antique Photo – Apartment — 10 min to Center
Property Description
It takes about 10 minutes to reach central Vienna (Schottentor, City Hall, Votive Church) by tram 43. The Alser Straße metro station is nearby.
The apartment is currently being renovated and gradually filled with antique furniture, perfect for retro-style photoshoots. From the window, you can see the old statues on the bank building across the street — a great spot for atmospheric shots.
The space
A unique apartment-museum in Vienna.
Inside, you’ll find genuine antique furniture with remarkable history: a set from the Reitzes barons (founders of Vienna’s first horse-drawn tram), pieces from a castle in Styria in the Pfeifenbarock style, a rare emerald-green ensemble from Graz, and a cabinet from an energetic 85-year-old businessman from Salzburg.
Each item comes with provenance and the history of several generations.
Perfect for stays, as well as photo and video shoots.
Guest access
A large living room with a sofa bed and an antique sitting sofa. The apartment also offers 2 bedrooms, a spacious kitchen, and a bathroom with a shower and toilet. Bed linens, towels, shampoo, and toiletries are included.
Other things to note
This apartment is not just a place to stay — it is a true apartment-museum, where every item has a documented provenance and history.
The Reitzes Barons’ Furniture Set
In the large bedroom stands a salon set that once belonged to the Reitzes barons — well-known Viennese investors and founders of the city’s first horse-drawn tram. They were called people “who could turn dust into money.”
Baron Reitzes gifted this set to his secretary, Mitzi Keller. Generations later, her descendants sold the furniture, and now it is here in Vienna.
Furniture from a Castle in Styria
In the large living room you will find a carved cabinet, and in the bedroom a round table — both from a castle in Styria.
The castle was converted into a hotel and restaurant at the end of the 18th century.
Frau Barbara Hochaspöck managed the restaurant shortly before World War I. When it went bankrupt, the owners paid her with furniture in the Pfeifenbarock style.
These pieces were secretly transported by horse carriage to Salzburg.
After a renovation, the Hochaspöck family’s descendants sold the furniture — and it became part of this apartment.
Guests can literally touch furniture that once stood in a real castle.
The Cabinet from a House near Salzburg
The carved cabinet in the small bedroom belonged to an 85-year-old businessman who still runs a sawmill and a fleet of vehicles. An elderly man with strikingly bright blue eyes and a deep love for his work.
This energy is reflected in the piece. When you touch the cabinet, you feel the spirit of his home and the strength of the man behind it.
The Emerald Green Baronial Set from Graz
The emerald green set in the small bedroom is a piece in the Biedermeier style. It belonged to a baronial family from Graz.
The owners’ names have been lost, but the character and craftsmanship of the furniture preserve the spirit of old aristocracy.
